Original Music and Sound Design, Bruno Louchouarn
A new reseting of Steinbeck’s play in 1942 with migrant Mexican workers brought in on the Bracero Program.
Featuring an original score infused with Mexican corrido music, performed by the composer and members of the acclaimed mariachi ensemble “Los Camperos.”
Director Corey Madden, composer Bruno Louchouarn, and choreographer Jacques Heim blend music, movement, and myth in this still-developing work of contemporary musical theater. This will be a "concert staging" of Surf Orpheus that re-envisions this ancient love story through the lens of Southern California's surf culture, the sounds of contemporary music, and images of the beach, the sea, and our dreams.
